Before the experience, what did you think would happen?
I wasn't really sure what to expect because you never will know what your 911 run would be like. I thought I would be having to go save peoples lives and I thought I would be seeing blood and constantly going on 911 calls. I was bit nervous but excited.
What did you expect to gain from an educational stand-point? Coming in I knew that I didn't know too much about fire fighters and paramedics. So I was hoping to learn a lot from this experience. I was also hoping to learn more of what things I can handle and if it could be a potential career for me.
What new relationships did you gain from this experience?
Most of the firemen and paramedics were all kinds of ages. The youngest in their was around 20. There were only 2 women who work at the Livingston Station where I shadowed. I was able to meet most of the firemen and they were all really nice, welcoming, and funny. I even got closer with my mentor who I have known for most of my life.
How did you think you would benefit from your involvement?
I thought that this capstone would benefit me in a few ways. Before I shadowed I was hoping that it would help me figure out a plan for my future, or at least narrow down of what I want to lean towards in the medical field. I also was hoping i would learn a lot from this experience and pass a few things on that I had learned.
